Famous Australian telecommunication organization TPG Telecom, formerly known as Vodafone Hutchison Australia Pty Limited, has spread its wings even further. The telco has now started offering its high-speed fiber broadband connections in the regional areas of Australia. It will use its own business-grade fiber network in order to operate. It will offer its services primarily in 26 towns and centers across different regions of Australia.
TPG Telecom confirmed today that its network will provide customers with speeds up to 1gbps. The 26 different towns and centers range from within Queensland, Tasmania, Northern Territories, Western Australia, New South Wales, and Victoria.
Tom Sykes, the Enterprise and Government Head of Product, said in his statement on the issue:
“Regional fiber footprint… demonstrates TPG Telecom’s continued investment in regional areas. We continue to invest in our fiber network, particularly in regional areas, allowing us to deliver an amazing customer experience, supported by our self-serve digital capability which lets customers manage their service in real-time.”
The different towns of Australia that fall under this TPG Telecom project include Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, and Dubbo in NSW. In the Victoria region, the included towns are Ballarat, Bendigo, and Shepparton. Likewise, the Cairns and Bundaberg, and Maroochydore towns from Queensland are also covered by the telco.
As for the purpose of this project, Sykes told the media:
“This is part of our program to help businesses recover from Covid as restrictions ease, by helping to deliver the flexible network experiences that they have been asking for.”
Up until now, only selective products from TPG Telecom are available. These products include fibre250, fibre400, and fibre1000. The organization has also confirmed that these products will be available only in the metropolitan areas for the time being.
In a press release today, TPG Telecom also confirmed that:
“All three fast fiber products include symmetric upload/download speeds and businesses could split the bandwidth across other TPG products.”
This new project from TPG Telecom is destined to revolutionize digital technology in the regional areas of Australia. The effects and scopes of this project can only be assessed through time.
