Australia is considered to be one of the most celebratory nations in the world. And, when it comes to the new year, not many can defeat the Aussies in celebration. This new year, there will be no exception. The Sydney motorway, which is the countries busiest road with a tremendous view of the world-famous Sydney harbor, will be the number one party destination for seven long days in the new year. The Sydney government will soon start transforming the motorway.

The new year’s celebration will be called the Elevate Sydney Festival. It will commence on the Sydney motorway, also known as the Cahill motorway, on December 31, 2021, and will go on for seven days. During the festival, the motorway will be closed to vehicles.

During the daytime, many high-stakes performers, colorful markets, and huge screens will keep the festival audience at the Sydney motorway occupied for the duration of the celebrations. At night though, the visitors will be greeted with pop-up food and bar experiences, along with fireworks and live acts.

This time around the Sydney motorway celebrations will witness the biggest drone show in the history of the Southern Hemisphere. There will be over 180 artists performing in the event as well. Some of the big-name participants include:

  • The Wiggles
  • Marcia Hines
  • Electric Fields
  • Tim Minchin
  • Tones and I
  • Baker Boy, etc.

Dominic Perrottet, the New South Wales Premier, expressed his delight by saying in a statement:

“The day after the fireworks, this event will begin the new year with a celebration of what makes our city great. Nowhere else could you hold this kind of event, nowhere has our harbor, our setting, or our weather. This has been a tough time for hospitality and tourism, we’re committed to doing everything we can to get these industries back on their feet and ensuring that our people have the chance to enjoy the city again.”

The tickets for the new year’s celebrations will be free of charge. But, they are not unlimited. There will be only 30,000 tickets for the festival, to be available for purchase very soon. The whole world will be looking at the Sydney motorway to see how it’s decorated and also to experience the sheer joy that comes with the new year.
