Feeling strung out, exhausted, unable to sleep or relax, are often considered the natural consequences of a very busy life. But these can be warning signs, and ignoring them by pushing yourself harder can spell disaster ahead.
“This is a common pattern in the professional women who come to see me,” says Luke Rossmanith, a health practitioner and health coach for more than 16 years. Over that time he has helped more than 500 female professionals avoid the road to burnout and achieve their ideal health, while also improving their relationships and increasing their confidence.
Founder of About Courage, Luke says it does take courage to make the changes in your life that are necessary for good health in body, mind, and spirit. He has developed a step-by-step strategy to address the symptoms that commonly signal the danger of burnout.
“I call those symptoms The Big Six,” he says. “The women I’ve seen over the years have told me that they feel anxious and overwhelmed, highly stressed, sleep poorly, are constantly exhausted, suffer hormonal imbalances, and have problems with digestion.” These are The Big Six symptoms, and it’s vitally important to address them, he says. “Often these women have been told there is nothing medically wrong with them, and so they try even harder to juggle all their many responsibilities, thinking they’re somehow at fault.”
There are other symptoms too, although they ride on the back of the main six. “A person might report aches and pains that have no obvious cause; or skin problems such as eczema or psoriasis; or they’ve noticed that they fall ill easily, among the first to catch whatever’s going around. This is a sign that their immune response is not functioning in a healthy way.”
Luke’s clients talk about mood swings that are puzzling, or they say their boundaries are blurred and they have no clarity in defining them. The result can be poor decision-making, which only exacerbates the feelings of stress.
“One of the most common side effects is that they simply can’t ever relax,” he says. “People might tell them the answer is to take time out for themselves, but this only makes things worse. They start to wonder whether there’s something wrong with them.”
Luke’s approach in helping a client break free from The Big Six is based on the connection between physical, mental, and emotional health. It is a structured, systematic, and holistic approach that calls on the latest research and on long-proven strategies. It also provides mindset coaching together with exceptional support along the way.
The goal is for busy professional women to wake up feeling full of energy and clarity, free of stress, and connected with a greater sense of purpose and vitality. About Courage helps women to prioritise their health and to change their lives.
If your confidence is low, you’re feeling physically and emotionally exhausted, or your boundaries are fairly non-existent, then Luke can help you to become strong, wake up with more energy and excitement, with more signs of confidence and resilience.
