Residents affected by the disaster caused by flooding and rain in Western Queensland can now claim a one-off payment from Centrelink.

After the recent record-breaking rainfall in Queensland, which caused major losses, locals were forced to evacuate the area.

To help those flood-affected victims, the federal government has activated financial aid through the Disaster Recovery Payment.

Through Centrelink, residents in six affected areas can now receive a disaster relief financial payment. The payment includes $1000 for adults and $400 for each child.

The payment aims to provide financial assistance to local residents who suffered huge losses amid the flooding.

Services Australia informed by stating, “If you have been impacted by the heavy rain and flooding in the affected areas, the government has activated financial support”.

Who Can Get the $1000 Flood Relief Centrelink Payment?

If you have suffered in the recent flooding in Queensland, then you’ll be eligible for the Centrelink payment announced by the government as financial relief to the affected residents.

The financial support is available for these areas –

  • Bulloo
  • Longreach
  • Barcoo
  • Paroo
  • Winton
  • Quilpie

The financial aid through Centrelink is available until September 29, 2025; therefore, flood-affected residents should apply soon.

Application Process for the Payment:

To claim the financial help, apply through the following methods:

Through Online:  Visit the Services Australia website and link your account to Centrelink.​

Through Call: Contact Services Australia at 180 22 66.​

Applicants are encouraged to make a claim before the end date.

Banks Set to Help Flood-Affected Residents

Banks have also stepped up to help local residents affected by flooding in Western Queensland and parts of New South Wales.

Major banks in Australia, including Westpac, Commonwealth Bank, NAB, and ANZ, have stepped up to support impacted customers with their emergency assistance measures.

Australian Banking Association CEO Anna Bligh has highlighted the banks’ support in the dire situation and asked residents to contact their bank.

“Several banks have activated their emergency assistance to help flood victims. Reach out to your bank immediately to explore available options,” she said.

“For all affected residents, banks are offering new solutions, including loan repayment pauses and loan restructuring, to help you recover.”
