Who will be Eligible for the $3000 Payment from Centrelink?
To become eligible for the payment, one must meet the following criteria –
- Moving from an inner regional area to pursue full-time study at a tertiary institution
- Finished Year 12 (or equivalent) in 2024
- 22 years old or younger at the first year of tertiary study
- Should meet income and residency requirements
Who will receive $5000?
Students from remote, regional, or very remote areas will receive up to $5000 in two parts:
- When starting studies, a $3000 payment will be received from Centrelink
- Later in the year, $2000 will be credited
What’s New in Centrelink Payments?
From this year, 2025, students who have taken a gap year (or more) after finishing Year 12 will also be eligible. The condition is that the student has to be 22 or younger when they start tertiary education.

TAP applications are open from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
