Sydney, Australia – In an unprecedented weather event, three major storm cells have amalgamated, forming a formidable squall line that is sweeping across large parts of Sydney.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning at approximately 2:15 pm, urging Sydneysiders to prepare for severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain, damaging winds, and hail.
The storm cells originated in Wollongong, Campbelltown, and Riverstone, converging to create a meteorological phenomenon that demands heightened caution from residents and authorities alike.
Following this, the meteorological authority issued a subsequent statement, confirming the amalgamation of the storm cells into a squall line.
The release indicated that severe thunderstorms were anticipated to impact Hornsby, Parramatta, Sutherland, Sydney Airport, and Sydney Olympic Park by 2:50 pm.
Subsequently, the storms are forecasted to sweep across Sydney City, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Mona Vale, and the waters off Bondi Beach by 3:20 pm.
Residents are advised to relocate their vehicles to sheltered areas, keeping them clear of trees, and to fasten any unsecured outdoor furniture. Additionally, it is recommended to disconnect computers and appliances, and refrain from using phones during the storm.
On Wednesday, well-frequented swimming locations, beaches, and baths in Sydney were issued water pollution advisories in the aftermath of recent storm activity affecting a substantial portion of the east coast.
A total of twenty-eight swimming spots have been identified as unsuitable for swimming due to compromised water quality, while an additional six popular beaches and baths are marked as areas with potential pollution concerns.
