As travellers prepare for one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, they have been met with bad news – trackwork is set to cause disruption across a number of train lines in Sydney, especially on the T8 Airport line.
Travel chaos is expected across Sydney over the weekend due to trackwork which will see no trains running through the stations at Sydney’s domestic and international terminals on one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.
The disruption comes as trackwork is set to be undertaken near the airport, and on other lines along the network – impacting Sunday.
Over the weekend, the T2, T4, and T5 lines will be affected, with trains also not running to Museum, St James or Circular Quay stations. To add to the confusion, buses will be replacing trains running between Glenfield and Sydenham and between Sydenham and Central.
Buses will replace trains on the T2 between Leppington and Glenfield, and trains on the all-stations Inner West line between Ashfield and Central will be running according to a revised timetable, with an additional stop at Homebush, but not stopping at Ashfield.
The T1 Western Line trains from Penrith include additional stops at Burwood and Ashfield, while the T9 Northern Line trains make additional stops at Croydon as well as Ashfield.
Trains on the T4 line will continue their regular service, with extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville being made by the Cronulla and Waterfall trains. In addition, a number of additional trains will be running between Hurstville and Bondi Junction.
