Sam Mac, the popular Sunrise Weatherman, and his girlfriend, Rebecca James, have shared an exciting new update on social media. And it’s not a weather update!
The talented Sunrise couple posted a happy photo of themselves on Instagram. In it, they’ve been seen to be holding keys to their new home in Sydney. Yes, it’s serious now. They’ve bought their very fast home together. Sweet, isn’t it?
Sam’s caption on the photo stated:
“We bought a bloody house! In Sydney! Already drinking our way through the pain as we calculate the stamp duty #Pray4Us.”
What’s in the Photo?
The cheerful snap shows us Sam and Rebecca’s happy faces. Alongside that, there are also the keys to the new house, and a celebratory bottle of champagne.
Rebecca, who only made her Sunrise debut a month earlier, shines bright in her white tops. Sam, on the other hand, has satisfaction written all over his face. A little glimpse of the new house can also be seen in the background.
Mac & Bec’s Journey
Sam and Rebecca announced their relationship also in an Instagram post at the start of the year. Rebecca since has moved from Melbourne to Sydney just to be with Sam. The fan-favorite Sunrise breakfast weather hero sent his fans into a frenzy when he uploaded a nice and cozy picture with Rebecca in March.
In his lengthy, candid, and emotional caption, he told his fans how he met “Bec” and how things panned out. He explained:
“Bec lives in Melb, and I’m in Syd, so the Victorian border restrictions meant it was illegal for us to meet in person. Here’s where it gets cool. We very quickly struck up a great friendship. Insta chats, phone calls, Friday zoom drinks, we spoke every single day for almost 6 months!”
The Sunrise journalist also explained what a relief it was when border restrictions were eased a little bit in 2020, and he could finally meet Rebecca in person. He also stated in his caption:
“Eventually, over a few Harry Potter marathons & a glass or two of Zonzo, we discovered we were both feeling exactly the same. We were just so cautious about ruining the friendship.”
The couple again made the headlines, when Rebecca made her Sunrise debut on Seven in September. In her brief appearance, the ever-jolly writer and stylist dropped some goodies for Sam, to keep him going at work.
Sam is also a big fan of Bec. He has publicly stated that it was Rebecca’s calm manner and her awesome kindness that drew him in. From the evidence at hand, we can surely expect to see more of Rebecca’s cameos on Sunrise.
