This summer, McDonald’s is set to send waves of excitement across Australian shores as it unveils a much-anticipated line-up of iconic favourites, including the highly requested McRib.
Marking its return on Wednesday, November 29, the McRib is set to make a limited-time appearance on Aussie menus, fulfilling the cravings of dedicated fans who have collectively requested its comeback more than 327 times on social media over the past year.
The McRib, smoky barbecue sauce, and signature pickles, has achieved a cult-like status among McDonald’s enthusiasts. Its reappearance on the summer menu is sure to spark a rush of nostalgia and delight among those who have eagerly awaited its return. With its limited-time availability, McDonald’s is encouraging patrons to seize the opportunity to indulge in this fan-favourite before it disappears once again.
But that’s not the only reason to celebrate this summer at Macca’s. Joining the McRib on the seasonal roster are two other beloved classics – the Chicken Big Mac and Onion Rings.
The Chicken Big Mac, a delightful variation of the iconic Big Mac, features succulent chicken patties layered with the signature Big Mac sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions, all sandwiched between a three-part sesame seed bun.
Meanwhile, the crispy and golden Onion Rings are set to add the perfect crunch to the summer meal, providing a tempting side option for those looking to elevate their McDonald’s experience.
Fresh additions to the summer menu feature a Tim Tam Chocolate McFlurry and Frozen Coke Y3000 — a chilled beverage that pledges to bring forth “the novel Coca-Cola taste from the Year 3000,” crafted in collaboration with artificial intelligence.
Starting from Wednesday, Australians will have the option to indulge in the McRib in two variations — the traditional McRib and the McRib Deluxe. Originally introduced in the United States in 1981, the McRib faced a brief stint on menus, being discontinued just four years later due to sluggish sales.
Subsequently, it has made intermittent comebacks, albeit for short durations as a limited-time offering, with the exception of Germany and Luxembourg, where it has secured a permanent spot on the menu.
The McRib comprises a boneless pork patty fashioned in the likeness of a small rack of ribs. In its classic rendition, the dish is presented with a generous coating of smoky BBQ McRib sauce, complemented by pickles and onions.
This distinctive combination of flavours and textures has contributed to the McRib’s cult status, with enthusiasts eagerly anticipating its periodic return to the McDonald’s menu. Now, Australians can once again savour the iconic McRib, choosing between the timeless version and the indulgent McRib Deluxe for a limited time.
The upgraded variant, the McRib Deluxe, is enhanced with the addition of McChicken sauce, cheese, tomato, and lettuce. This summer marks the initial reappearance of the McRib in Australian McDonald’s establishments since 2020.
