A national recall of a popular coconut yoghurt has been issued due to concerns the product may contain milk, an allergen that is not declared or otherwise visible on the product packaging.

The recall affects the 500g tubs of the Nakula Plant Based Probiotic Coconut Yoghurt, produced by Noosa Hinterland Pty located on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Coles and Woolworths supermarkets in New South Wales, and Woolworths supermarkets in Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia all offer the product for sale.

Food Standard Australia released a recall notice on their website, advising consumers who have a dairy allergy or intolerance to not consume the product. The recall notice also advised consumers to dispose of the product and contact the company for a full refund.

The recall has affected the 500g tubs of the Nakula Plant Based Probiotic Coconut Yoghurt Natural.

The recall was issued due to an oversight in the manufacturing process, where the product was contaminated with milk. The FSA stated the product does not declare milk as an allergen on the packaging, and advised that this could pose a serious health risk.

“If you have a milk allergy or intolerance, do not consume this product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund,” said Food Standards in the recall notice.
