Australia’s consumer watchdog has warned consumers to return a laxative after finding the product was missing a key warning for pregnant women, those trying to get pregnant, and breastfeeding mothers.
The ComforCleanse by Young Living Essential Oils was recalled by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). This product claims to be a high-powered herbal formula that supports normal digestive and colon functions.
The product recall was issued due to the lack of the “mandatory wording for the required label warnings” for the ingredient fennel (Foeniculum vulgate), despite the product claiming to be a “high-powered herbal formula that supports normal digestive and colon function” and being described as a laxative to relieve constipation.
The ACCC and TGA have advised the product should be returned to the retailer for a full refund. They have also urged consumers to seek advice from their healthcare professional if they are pregnant or trying to fall pregnant and have been using the product for relief from constipation.
Young Living has marked the product “not available for purchase” in its online shop and has issued a warning. The warning stated products with a use by date of March 29, 2023, and any bottles carrying the identifying numbers ‘Lot 15500101’ should be returned for a refund.
