Wendy’s, the US-based fast food chain, is set to open its first restaurant in Australia. The chain is known for its square hamburgers, Sea-Salt Fries, never frozen beef burgers, and is sure to be a hit with Aussie burger lovers.

Wendy’s was founded in 1969 by Dave Thomas in Columbus, Ohio. The chain now has over 6,000 restaurants in 30 countries.

The company has partnered with Sydney-based franchise strategist DC Strategy in order to make its much-anticipated debut Down Under.

DC Strategy has said that it is searching for world-class, experienced franchise partners with strong operations experience and a proven track record for growing brands in Australia, but the location for the first Wendy’s restaurant has yet to be confirmed.

Wendy’s will be entering a crowded Australian fast-food market, which is dominated by McDonald’s, KFC, and Hungry Jack’s.

But the company is confident that it can succeed Down Under, with CEO Todd Penegor saying that Wendy’s is “excited to bring our fresh, great-tasting food to Australia”.

“We know Australians love hamburgers and we can’t wait to give them a taste of Wendy’s,” he said.

The restaurant will have to compete with already established restaurants in order to gain the attention of Australians. They will need to offer something unique that will appeal to customers and make them want to come back.

Established US chains such as Five Guys, Wahlburgers, Taco Bell, In-N-Out, and Carls Jr. already have a strong customer base, so the new restaurant will have to work hard to win over their business.

It remains to be seen whether Wendy’s will be able to find success in Australia, but the company is confident that its unique offering will be a hit with Australian consumers.

So if you’re looking for a taste of America’s cult favourite fast food chain, be sure to keep an eye out for Wendy’s Australia later this year.
