Australia Test captain Tim Paine is in high spirits that he will be absolutely alright for Ashes despite the urgent need for a surgery to treat minor ailments and pinched nerves in his neck.
Paine, 36, reported sensations of pain in his neck and left arm caused by a bulging disc.
Tim Paine is expected to return to full training next month, as the first Ashes Test of Australia against England is scheduled to start in Brisbane on December 8.
‘I’ll Be Ready’
“I’ll be ready for the first Test,” said Paine.
“The consensus of the spinal surgeon and the Cricket Australia medical team was to have the surgery now which will allow plenty of time to fully prepare for the summer.”
Australia retained the Ashes 2-2 in England in 2019, the first Ashes series to end in a draw since the year 1972. That’s a massive record!
Test Match Against Afghanistan Coming Up
Cricket Australia expects this year’s series to go ahead as planned previously despite some England players suggesting they would withdraw if the Covid-19 restrictions prevent them from taking their families.
Along with the Ashes, Australia is also looking forward to host their first Test against Afghanistan from November 26. The Cricket Australia (CA) clearly stated its intention that it will cancel the match if reports that thr women’s team cannot play under the Taliban regime are true.
