It is widely accepted that real growth starts as soon as we get out of our comfort zones. There is nothing quite like the feeling of embarking on a new adventure, with no safety net, or a real plan. One Australian who has been able to do just that, is Maher Yassine. A Lebanese Australian born and raised in the Sydney suburb of Rockdale, Maher took the plunge that far too many of us would love to take, but simply lack the courage to do so.
Starting Fresh
Quitting his job, giving up his small room in Sydney, handing away his possessions to local charities, and then migrating to the US in 2015 with no job, and a total of $4000 US dollars to his name – with a visa only for one year, Maher had no choice but to make something happen, and fast.
Developing his skills through different positions and environments in the insurance industry across LA and NYC, Maher climbed the ranks of insurance through underwriting, finance and operations. He has always had to manoeuvre through the challenging immigration system to stay in the US, including moving cities to wherever opportunities presented themselves while balancing the pressures of performance in corporate roles.
Betting on Himself
After an already failed business attempt to become an entrepreneur and live his dream, in 2019 Maher lost his job in New York City, and decided, against all odds, to start another business in the insurance industry – that launched right at the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The business ended up not going as planned, and by this point, it was safe to say that Maher was no stranger to hard times in his life.
However, with his countless transitions throughout his life and career, Maher learned many priceless lessons, and developed invaluable traits along the way that ultimately shaped who he is today, and are the foundation of the success he has achieved today. “I believe that there is unlimited power in resilience, perseverance and patience,” Maher explains.
The Rise of Uplift Management
Through all these lessons, it comes as no surprise that Maher has now successfully transitioned into an opportunity to live his dreams. As the CEO, founding Uplift Management, a talent management company, he now manages and provides professional representation to high calibre athletes, fitness and lifestyle influencers and celebrities, to coach them into becoming better content creators and monetizing their platforms.
Uplift Management has relationships with some of the biggest brand names in the industry, and they have had success in all of their campaigns – needless to say, with very happy customers.
Levelling up
Now living in Miami, Maher’s third US city before the age of 30, he is continuing to grow and nurture Uplift Management to new heights every single day. A lot of Maher’s opportunities have been developed through his 6 years of powerful relationships and contacts from all walks of life. Maher believes that people are the most valuable jewels and that fostering genuine, caring and positive relationships will cause fruits to grow.
