Australian star Dieter Brummer who was best recognized for his character of Shane Parrish on television show Home & Away between 1992 and 1996 has succumbed to death at the age of 45.

Brummer was found dead in a Sydney home on Saturday by New South Wales police who were answering a welfare phone call.

The police department said that the actor’s death was not considered suspicious.

Family Statement

In a statement Monday, Brummer’s family said: “We lost our handsome, talented, funny, complicated and beloved Dieter.

“It has left a huge hole in our lives and our life will never be the same” the statement read.

“Our thoughts go out to everyone who has either known him, loved him, or has worked with him over these years.”

‘Deeply Sadenned’

Brummer was very popular from TV show Home and Away in the 1990s, playing the love of Melissa George’s Angel Brooks.

Seven Network News, aired by Home and Away in Australia, said they were “deeply saddened” by the news.

“Dieter has been a very popular actor in Home and Away and is celebrated by Australian and international audiences,” the statement said.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dieter’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

Career Journey

Brummer joined Home and Away at the age of 15 and became one of the most loved character by the fans. He was also crowned at the Australian Logie TV Awards as most popular actor for two years running in 1995 and 1996.

Dieter was also voted “soap prince” twice by readers of Dolly’s magazine, as viewers were bewitched by him and George.

Brummer left a long-running soap opera when his character was written off as he died of septicemia in 1996 in the show. However, the actor continued to do roles in TV shows, including the real crime drama Underbelly, Winners and Losers and a 26-episode with rival soap, Neighbors , as Capt. Troy Miller, 2011.

In the years that followed, Brummer revealed that he began a career as a window cleaner after leaving Home and Away to feel life from the beginning.

He told TV Tonight in 2010: “It was a very difficult time coming out of high school to get all this fame and praise.

“As great as it was, I wanted to prove to myself I could get my hands dirty and sweat for a buck as easily as standing around on set, being primped and preened.”
