Gladys Berejiklian introduced coronavirus restrictions throughout central Sydney as the state recorded 30 new cases of coronavirus, creating further border crossings and disrupting Christmas programs.

The New South Wales premier said new restrictions had been introduced to prevent the virus from spreading to other parts of Sydney, after a list of exposure areas grew overnight to include more eastern restaurants and a cafeteria in Forster in the north-north coa.

Rise In Cases

Of the new cases reported on Sunday, 28 have been linked to the Avalon cluster and two are still under investigation, but the two are people living on northern beaches near known exposure sites.

It brings the number of cases in the Avalon collection to 68.

On Sunday evening, NSW Health added 18 locations to its contact list. Areas were Manly, Newport, Neutral Bay, Crows Nest, Paddington, Riverwood, Avalon, Cronulla and Darling Point.

Border Restrictions

Victoria, Queensland and South Australia have tightened their border restrictions, meaning that all states and territories, with the exception of the Act, have limited travel limits to the people of Sydney.

The new restrictions in Sydney will apply from midnight on Sunday until midnight on Wednesday, for people living in Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Central Coast, with meetings limited to ten guest homes.

The premier also said the government would reintroduce a four-square-foot house law, ban dancing outside 20 people at a wedding, and ban singing and singing outside groups of five people at a place of worship.

Berejiklian also asked people living on northern beaches and no longer at home to follow the same locking rules, if they leave home after 11 December.

“This was done so that there would be no seed sowing events outside of the northern beaches,” Berejiklian said. “We have people who did not live on the northern beaches who came to those events contracted the disease and returned home, and we make sure that we do our best to stop them and their contacts from creating community planting events outside of the northern beaches. ”

What Did Berejiklian Say?

Berejiklian said all restrictions would be reviewed Wednesday morning, and he would provide an update and advise on whether the restrictions would continue.

She also urged everyone in Sydney’s major public, whether public transport or a house in public places, such as a supermarket, shopping mall, or place of worship, to “please wear a mask”. He also thanked Sydneysiders for changing and canceling holiday plans even though the closing rules were not in place.

“Thank you to the people of the northern beaches and the people of the great Sydney… I know that many of us and many of you have canceled the arrangements you had last night, canceled the arrangements you had in the next few days and I appreciate this,” he said.

Opposition’s Response

NSW’s chief medical officer, Dr Kerry Chant, said so far the link between the hotel’s divisive case, which has the same type of virus, and the Avalon outbreak is still unclear.

“No one else we have identified can be a source,” he said. “At the moment we are looking forward to every trip of that person to see if there are any related points.”

Chant said NSW Health asked anyone who visited the Anytime Fitness gym in Avalon from November 23 to 7 December to get tested for coronavirus and isolate themselves until they got their results, not because they believed the virus was public at the time. , but because tracking agents are trying to find the cause of the transfer.

“We don’t think that’s very likely but you can expect us to always check all the options,” Chant said.

Anyone who has been at the gym from 8 December onwards has been asked to get tested immediately and volunteer for 14 days, regardless of the test results.

Berejiklian said no one should enter public transport without a mask, and pointed out that an order regarding the wearing of masks could be made if people ignored their use.

Opponents of the Labor Party argued that the government should authorize masks in public transportation, shopping malls, and places of worship.

In line with other provinces, the Victoria government has expanded its NSW travel restrictions, including the whole of Sydney and Central Coast in the red zone. This means that travel to Victoria from those areas will be closed.

The exemption applies to Victorians who want to get home, as long as they arrive before midnight on Monday, which allows them to get to stay alone for 14 days at home rather than go to an isolated hotel.
