How Alicia Martin has created revolutionary skincare products.

After working in a corporate setting for 12 years, Alicia Martin realised she was becoming the job and was left feeling burnt out and stressed every day. It was at this point she resigned and decided it was time for a life reset.

She applied for hundreds of jobs and received zero interviews, but instead of panicking, Alicia decided to trust her gut and pivot her career. She spent her last $8K to launch her business, Sea Sun Australia, an e-commerce brand centred around self-care and self-love. Alicia created her business from her spare bedroom in her suburban Melbourne home during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and has only grown since.

Alicia has always loved beauty, but wanted to create a skincare range that was clean, natural and effective that makes the user feel good! For Alicia, creating a ritual around each product was key. Sea Sun Australia isn’t just another step in your skin routine, it’s a chance to take time out and reconnect with yourself.

During her first month, Alicia made two sales, it wasn’t until she discovered the power of influencer marketing on social media, and started to collaborate with inspiring influencers such as Matilda Murray, Jaz Hand, and Cathy Evans, that Sea Sun Australia started to make waves in the skincare scene.

Alicia couldn’t have predicted just how successful Sea Sun Australia would become. Sea Sun Australia sold out three times over and woke up with over $20,000 in sales overnight. She then received an email from the world-famous Vanity Fair, asking if Alicia wanted to feature her products in their magazine. At first, she thought it was a scam, but it was very real and Sea Sun Australia has been featured in the magazine four times since.

Sea Sun Australia customers are those who value self-care and wellness, who appreciate high-quality products that are easy to use and offer effective results. Skincare lovers who know the importance of sustainability and take natural vegan and cruelty-free ingredients into account when making their purchasing decisions.

Sea Sun Australia’s current favourite product is the Eye Mask, which is both PETA certified vegan and cruelty-free, valued at $30 for a box of 5. Their Ultra Calming Under-Eye Mask is hydrating, firming and smoothing, including hero ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Marine Algae, Cherry Extract and Rose Flower Oil.

Their reviews stand testament to the products, with reviews saying ‘I love how soothing it is on my skin and how it brightens… Back the truck up with my next delivery!’
