Centrelink Payments in June 2025 come with essential updates that affect millions of Australians relying on government support.

From payment schedule changes to rate adjustments and new repayment rules, it’s important to stay updated, especially as the financial year ends.

Fortnightly Payment Rate Increases Continue

As part of routine indexation, payment rates were already adjusted in March 2025, and those updated rates continue in June. The next adjustment will occur in September 2025.

Examples of current rates (as of June 2025):

  • Age Pension (single): approx. $1,096.70 per fortnight
  • JobSeeker (single, no children): approx. $749.20 per fortnight
  • Youth Allowance (18+, at home): approx. $395.30 per fortnight

These rates include any supplements or rent assistance, depending on eligibility.

New Minimum for In-Person Centrelink Debt Repayments

Starting 12 June 2025, a new rule applies: if you choose to repay Centrelink debt in person at Australia Post (cash, EFTPOS, or cheque), your minimum repayment must be at least $5 per transaction.

There is no minimum limit if you use:

  • BPAY
  • Direct debit
  • Online banking (Post Billpay)

This change aims to streamline small repayments and encourage more efficient online payments.

Pensioner Education Supplement Reminder

If you’re an eligible pensioner or carer undertaking approved study or training, you may be eligible for the Pensioner Education Supplement (PES):

  • Up to $62.40 per fortnight (full rate)
  • Paid to help with ongoing study costs

This payment is not automatic – you must claim it. It’s especially helpful for those studying part-time or doing short courses.

Quick Checklist: What You Should Do in June 2025

  • Check payment dates in your myGov account
  • Review your bank details to ensure smooth deposits
  • Update your study status if applying for PES
