Here we sit down with George, to know a bit more about his journey as an entrepreneur.
Q. What inspired George to become an entrepreneur?
George: Wanting to help businesses succeed and help them promote as well as distribute their products.
I’ve been an entrepreneur from a very young age, trading my first stocks when I was 11.
Q. How did George get started?
George: I started Attention Experts after selling two online businesses successfully that were built through social media marketing, with the last business Amaze Tea Co being sold to a NZ entity. I was being approached by companies across Australia to help them with their social media, and decided I might as well start my own agency. I decided to start Attention Experts in August 2016 and we started with $250 and in a free officeworks meeting room.

Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?
George: My biggest startup challenge was learning to hire the right people and making sure they were able to help grow the business successfully. Because social media agencies in 2016 was fairly new, we barely had any blueprint to model off, so I had to figure out how to hire, retain and cultivate staff from scratch in a new industry.
Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing did George Done Since he Started his Business?
George: Moving into our wonderful new offices in Sydney, where we doubled the previous square metrage of our prior office. This new office has room for 40 staff, and this is in addtion to our Melbourne and Brisbane office spaces.
Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?
George: I recommend the book ‘From Good to Great’ by Jim Collins. It’s a book that really encapsulates by some companies suceed and others don’t.
Q. What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools, or resources and what do you love about them?
George: I try to keep my apps to a minimum, but obviously social media apps like LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tik Tok. They all keep me in informed and bring unique viewpoints to my life. Social media has its pros and cons but I think its about being smart enough about its usage, how much you use it and what you choose to listen to.

Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?
George: I’d like to positively help as many businesses as possible (I set a target of 1 million in 2016) to help expand and promote their products better.
Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?
George: Never ever ever give up….ever – persistence, hard work and perserverance always pays, but in order for that to work just make sure you keep your integrity intact along the way.
